BARITONE
Arion Rudari
Born in 1992 in the Bernese Oberland, the baritone studied with Christian Hilz at the HKB and graduated with distinction in 2019 with a Master's degree in Specialized Performance (music education).
As a freelance singer, he performs in opera and concert halls, emphasizing a diverse repertoire and vocal flexibility. In addition to classics such as Mozart's and Fauré's Requiems, Bach's Passions, and Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn, he also interprets contemporary works like Gubaidulina's Sonnengesang and Tin's Calling All Dawns. He has participated in numerous world premieres, including Derungs' Lebwohl, gute Reise, Oehring's Angelus Novus II, Schlömer's L'Europe Sauvage, and Acosta's Il Perro Perdido.
His work enabled him to collaborate with renowned figures such as Graziella Contratto, Marc Kissoczy, and established orchestras like the Freitagsakademie Bern and the NZO. On the opera stage, he portrayed, among others, Mozart's Papageno and Figaro, Weber's Kaspar (Der Freischütz), Cimarosa's Count Robinson (Il matrimonio segreto), and Monteverdi's Plutone (L'Orfeo).
His greatest passion is art song: with Ricardo Acosta he developed a repertoire that includes both standard works such as Schubert's Winterreise and Mahler's Des Knaben Wunderhorn, as well as compositions by Ullmann (Liederbuch des Hafis) and Kahane (Craigslistlieder). With Yod Siwat Chuencharoen, he presented an evening of ballads at the HEUTE HIER festival in June 2023, featuring works by Loewe, Schumann, and Schubert.
In 2018, he founded the opera collective WorkshOpera Bern, where he serves as artistic director. Their aim is to make opera accessible to a new audience in an entertaining way. With the vocal quartet Mundartig, he cultivates traditional Swiss folk songs. He also teaches music and classroom instruction at the Walkringen school. From 2022 to 2023, he was the music educator for the DAVOS FESTIVAL.
