Bariton

Arion Rudari

Baritone Arion Rudari, born in 1992 in the Bernese Oberland, studied with Christian Hilz at the Bern University of the Arts (HKB) and completed his Master Specialized Performance (Music Mediation) with distinction in 2019.

As a freelance singer, he is active in both opera and concert settings, placing great emphasis on a versatile repertoire and vocal flexibility. In addition to classics such as Mozart’s and Fauré’s Requiem, Bach’s Passions, and Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn, he also performs contemporary works like Gubaidulina’s Sonnengesang and Tins’ Calling All Dawns. He has participated in numerous world premieres, including Derungs’ Lebwohl, gute Reise, Oehring’s Angelus Novus II, Schlömer’s L’Europe Sauvage, and Acosta’s Il Perro Perdido.

His work has allowed him to collaborate with renowned artists such as Graziella Contratto and Marc Kissoczy, as well as established ensembles including the Freitagsakademie Bern and the NZO. On the opera stage, he has performed roles such as Mozart’s Papageno and Figaro, Weber’s Kaspar (Der Freischütz), Cimarosa’s Count Robinson (Il matrimonio segreto), and Monteverdi’s Plutone (L’Orfeo).

His greatest passion lies in art song performance. Together with Ricardo Acosta, he developed a repertoire that includes standard works such as Schubert’s Winterreise and Mahler’s Des Knaben Wunderhorn, as well as compositions by Ullmann (Liederbuch des Hafis) and Kahane (Craigslistlieder). In June 2023, with Yod Siwat Chuencharoen, he presented an evening of ballads at the HEUTE HIER Festival, featuring works by Loewe, Schumann, and Schubert.

In 2018, he co-founded the opera collective WorkshOpera Bern, where he serves as artistic director. The collective aims to make opera accessible to new audiences in an entertaining way. With the vocal quartet Mundartig, he preserves traditional Swiss folk songs. In addition, he works as a music and classroom teacher at the Walkringen School and served as a music mediator for the DAVOS FESTIVAL from 2022 to 2023.
