Tenor

Luigi Chiaramonte

Luigi Chiaramonte completed his Master of Performance in spring 2024 with Christian Hilz at the Bern University of the Arts.

As a concert tenor, he performs regularly throughout Switzerland and across Europe. In particular, he has appeared as a soloist in J.S. Bach’s most beloved works, with performances at the Kolarac Concert Hall in Belgrade, Serbia (St Matthew Passion), in Kempten, Germany (Evangelist, Christmas Oratorio), and in Bergamo, Italy in collaboration with the Magnificat Choir & Consort (Evangelist, St John Passion), as well as numerous performances in Western Switzerland with Fontana Cantabile (St Matthew Passion).

In independent opera and music theatre productions, he has appeared as Acis (G.F. Handel: Acis and Galatea), as Orfeo in this year’s IG Opera production Amore Mistico (director: Ulla Schlegelberger), and at the Bernhard Theater in Zurich (R. Stolz: Grüezi). In collaboration with the Medizinerorchester Bern, Luigi made his debut as Tamino (W.A. Mozart: Die Zauberflöte). As a founding member of the opera collective Workshopera Bern, he has performed, among other roles, Don Basilio (W.A. Mozart: Le nozze di Figaro) and Paolino (D. Cimarosa: Il matrimonio segreto).

A central aspect of his artistic activity is his active participation in various vocal ensembles such as Verba Vocalis, Larynx, Mundartig, and others, with which he has performed at venues including the Gare du Nord in Basel and the Fête des Vignerons.

In 2019, he received a scholarship from the Austria Barock Akademie. Masterclasses with Brigitte Fassbaender, Tobias Truniger, Sibylla Rubens, and Sophie Raynaud further complement his artistic development.
